TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — Terry Hill knows the power of a second chance, but that lesson came at a price.
“It’s not about me; it’s not about me, that was the entire crew’s mindset,” said Terry in 2017. “There’s somebody out there on the worst day of their life. Just let us go.”
Last September, you met Terry on Channel 8. His time as an ‘Army Med Evac’ pilot left him fighting severe PTSD. The battle trickled into his every day life.
“I felt like my career kind of ended abruptly after the crash,” said Terry.
Little did he know, this time, someone was coming to rescue him.
“For one, I mean, he’s already saved my life,” said Terry.
Jonsey is Terry’s service dog. When Jonsey entered his life in July 2017, he became part of the family, and Terry’s whole life turned around. Jonsey took on Terry’s stress, and Terry got a second chance at life.
“It was really kind of freeing and opened up that bandwidth and that capacity to do something else,” said Terry.
In the year since Jonsey entered Terry’s life, he started a 3-d printing company called ‘Rapid Application Group LLC.’ The company is unique to Oklahoma because Terry will only be hiring veterans.
“[I will be] giving meaningful employment and meaningful opportunities to those who have sacrificed all these years,” said Terry.
They already are having a hard time keeping up with the demand. It’s a small company right now but that will change soon, especially if the new executive has anything to say about it.
“I actually promoted [Jonsey] to ‘Vice President of Business Development,’” said Terry.
The two have become battle buddies in business and in life.
“If we look back over the year and a half, what he’s given us,” said Terry. “If it wasn’t for Jonsey, I wouldn’t be here right now. Very grateful.”
Terry is now working on plans to expand the company to a larger office space.
